| The
American Dream departs from Ketchikan.
Where it goes from there is up to you.
The
Misty Fjords National
Monument, a spectacular 2.2. million acre
preserve of protected rain forest, lakes, rivers,
salt water fjords and extraordinary wildlife,
is just 50 miles south.
Prince
of Wales Island is located in Prince of Wales-Outer
Ketchikan County. Heavily forested with low mountains
of the Coast Range, this is the third largest
island under the American flag Only Hawaii and
Kodiak are bigger. Most of the island is national
forest land, with five designated wilderness areas.
Admiralty
Island National Monument Much of the appeal
of Admiralty Island is due to the fact that in
several of the major bays and inlets which penetrate
deeply inland, offer safe places to anchor and
hike the adjacent beaches or estuaries while hunting,
beach combing or photographing wildlife.
